Down the rabbit hole into Wonderland – curiosity as a catalyst for change

So why do we stop being curious?

If Alice hadn’t been curious enough to follow the white rabbit, her world would have been a very different place. And there’s a reason Alice in Wonderland is still one of the most popular stories in English literature, even now, more than 150 years after it was written.

Curiosity drives us from the moment we’re born. It’s what makes us take those first steps, what helps us learn, what makes us ask questions and keep growing. Curiosity drives inventions, discoveries, innovation. Curiosity changes the world.

Curiosity is a circle

Curiosity leads to conversations. Conversations spark creativity. They create starting points for connections and collaboration, which lead to relationships. Relationships help us understand our customers better, to make more of an impact. When we understand, we ask the right questions. Curiosity leads us to ask more questions, which sparks more conversations and starts the whole cycle again.

Curiosity challenges the status quo

If we aren’t curious, we’ll never question why things are done a certain way, if there’s a better way, or even if we should be doing something completely different. We’d never find out what works and what doesn’t. Curiosity leads to different experiences, creates growth, changes the course of the future and creates connections that open new doors. It’s the key for innovation and a world of new possibilities.

How do we get our curiosity back?

It all begins with two questions. Why, and how? Don’t accept that the answer is ‘because I said so’. Challenge it! Be open to the possibility that things could be better if they were different. Experiment, learn and keep asking questions. Don’t just have an opinion; listen and learn. Be like Alice and explore the world around you. Innovation comes from exploration, and the root of this is curiosity.
